Process-Oriented Support
There are many ways to do this work, and different things work for different people. Learning about what works for you is part of the process. Each of the areas listed here can be used independently or together, based on what is most safe and appropriate for you at this time.
Psychotherapy
|
Psychotherapy is what people typically consider when they think about the therapeutic process; we sit in a shared space (in person or telehealth) and we explore thoughts, emotions, patterns, strengths, challenges, goals, and more. Available for individuals, couples, co-parents, families, and groups.
This process helps build a deeper knowing of oneself and one's resources. |
Yoga Therapy /
Somatic Therapy |
"Soma" means "body" and utilizing this modality invites the visceral/felt experience of your body into the conversation. For those with a history of trauma, talking can feel safer than feeling - we work together to build a sense of safety in the body so sensations can be felt without triggering overwhelm or dissociation.
This process also helps to build and strengthen the connection between mind and body. |
Expressive Arts Therapy
|
Sometimes our greatest insights arise when we are able to loosen our ridigity. Expressive Arts Therapy may include journaling, drawing painting or mixed media, vocal exploration, collage, narrative elements, and more. What happens when you're given permission to be terrible at something? What happens when you're given permission to enjoy the experience without worrying about how it looks when you're done?
This process can help challenge ideas of perfectionism, right/wrong and good/bad. |
Mindfulness
|
Mindfulness is a popular word these days, and much can be said on the subject. For this description, I'll keep it to the broader terms of it being present-moment, non-judgmental, intentional awareness.
This is a process and a practice of leaning in with curiosity and wonder, learning about not only what you think, but also how you think, why you think the way you do, and what thinking itself is. |
Ketamine-Assisted
Psychotherapy (KAP) |
KAP is a modality that combines ketamine treatment with dedicated psychotherapy. It has been shown to be effective in treatment of depression (including Treatment-Resistant Depression), anxiety, PTSD, ruminating/intrusive thoughts, OCD, and more.
KAP is available for individuals age 18+, couples, and groups. |
Psychedelic-Assisted
Therapy (PAT) |
Psychedelic-Assisted-Therapy (PAT)...If you are planning to go to a state/commonwealth or another country where access to psychedelic medicines are available* and would like to receive "bookended support" (Preparation before and Integration after), please reach out and we can discuss.
*I do not promote, endorse or support any illegal activities, nor do I bear responsibility for anyone's decision to do so. Individuals are solely responsible for their decisions regarding psychedelic use and their legal status in their locations. |
Psychedelic / NOS
Preparation |
NOS = Non-Ordinary State.
Psychedelics are but one of many ways to access a NOS. Others include but are not limited to Holotropic Breathwork, Pranyama, Meditation, Ecstatic Dance, and Sound Baths. A NOS can sometimes be achieved instantaneously during an intense life event such as a near-death experience, bearing witness to a death, giving birth or witnessing a birth, an experience of bliss, or another pivotal life event (can be positive, negative, or a mix of both). Preparation is available for those who are planning/anticipating a NOS. |
Psychedelic / NOS
Integration |
NOS are sometimes carefully curated and prepared for, while others are surprises.
There are often unintended impacts from a NOS, which can be from the NOS experience itself, from the shifted perspective after it, or both. Integration is specialized to attend to this unique experience and help you incorporate it into your life with a sense of deeper understanding and connectedness. |
